ALCHEMY OR TECHNOLOGY?
Upcycling Nitrogenous Waste Into Natural Ammonia
It may feel a little like alchemy. But there is no magic trick. Biological science, process control and decades of fertilizer manufacturing experience make it possible to transform nitogenous waste into a consistent source of Natural Ammonia for organic agriculture.
NH₃ · NATURAL AMMONIA
THE PROCESS
It begins with biology.
The process starts with digestion. Proprietary, ammonia-tolerant microorganisms begin converting the feedstock and producing an ammonia-rich digestate. From there, controlled fermentation and extraction allow us to recover the nitrogen and manufacture a consistent liquid fertilizer.
01-DIGESTION
Proprietary ammonia-tolerant microbes begin converting the feedstock, creating a digestate naturally high in ammonia.
02-FERMENTATION
The digestate moves through a controlled fermentation stage designed to continue the conversion process under managed conditions.
03-EXTRACTION
Ammonia is separated and recovered into a clean liquid fertilizer with no suspended solids and very low salt levels.
NOT A BYPRODUCT BUSINESS
Purpose-Built From the Beginning.
We do not make biogas. We make nitrogen fertilizer.
That distinction matters. In organic agriculture, intent dictates quality. That is why our technology is fundamentally different from a municipal or industrial byproduct operation. We are intentional fertilizer manufacturers, not a biogas plant managing a waste stream.
While energy-focused anaerobic digestion results in highly variable, water-heavy residue, our proprietary process is engineered exclusively around the molecular and nutritional needs of the soil. We command the finished product’s specifications because we own the entire process loop.
This uncompromising approach allows us to easily meet the rigid benchmarks of the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) under 7 CFR §§ 205.601–205.606—standards we have designed our operations around since their inception on October 21, 2002. The result is a highly stable, uniform, and compliant input that addresses peak crop demand instantly, bypassing the logistical bottlenecks of national freight while delivering authentic, specialized technology straight to your acreage.
01 · NO SUSPENDED SOLIDS
Clean liquid handling and consistent application.
02 · VERY LOW SALT
Designed to deliver nitrogen without unnecessary salt loading.
03 · CONSISTENT OUTPUT
Controlled processing reduces the variability common in waste-derived materials.
04 · FERTILIZER EXPERIENCE
Backed by decades of fertilizer manufacturing and agronomic experience.
THE RESULT
Consistant. Clean. Circular.
01 · RAPIDLY AVAILABLE NITROGEN
Natural Ammonia provides nitrogen in a form that does not require lengthy biological breakdown before becoming available to the crop.
02 · VERY LOW SALT
A clean nitrogen source designed to avoid unnecessary salt loading in the root zone.
03 · CLEAN HANDLING
No suspended solids means easier pumping, injection and application through modern fertilizer systems.
DESIGNED FOR ORGANIC AGRICULTURE
Built for the Real Demands of Organic Farming.
Organic growers need more than a legal input. They need a fertilizer that fits real field conditions—timing-sensitive crops, careful salt management and application systems that must work reliably.
Organic systems often rely on nutrient release from biological breakdown. Natural Ammonia offers nitrogen in a form better suited to crops that cannot wait on slow release alone.
01 · TIMING MATTERS
Low salt levels matter in high-value crops where unnecessary salt loading can add stress and reduce management flexibility.
02 · ROOT ZONE SENSITIVITY
A clean liquid with no suspended solids is easier to pump, inject and handle through modern fertilizer equipment.
03 · APPLICATION PRACTICALITY
Phytamin® Pure and Phytamin® Jumpstart mix readily with many compatible liquid fertilizer materials, making it easier for dealers to create custom blends for specific crop, field, and seasonal needs.
04 · CUSTOM-BLEND FLEXIBILITY

BUILT BY FERTILIZER EXPERTS
Technology Backed by Decades of Manufacturing Experience
COFI has been manufacturing fertilizers since 1990. The Natural Ammonia platform builds on that experience with a process designed around fertilizer quality, agronomic usefulness and reliable production—not waste disposal. Our fertilzers are made from local raw materials and our Hanford facility ships totes, truckloads and railcars.
